We are delighted to be celebrating our 1st Anniversary of opening Brown Sugar! The time has really flown!!
During our first year we have developed and grown. We’ve listened to our customers and adapted where you needed it!
We have created an atmosphere that is warm and welcoming, modern yet nostalgic. A great place for locals and visitors alike. We have extended our seating into a lovely decked courtyard, a perfect alfresco area in the warmer weather, and our giftware has become more extensive, expanding into ‘The Neuk’ at the rear of the store. We are also offering many more items through our website for home delivery.
We strive to offer you the best of everything, from the ambiance we have created, to the finest coffee around! We are serving Segafredo Zanetti, fine Italian coffees, alongside our delicious locally made home bakes, panini, sandwiches and soups.
Our gift area, The Neuk, is ‘Small but Perfectly Formed’!
We don’t have a lot of space, so we’ve selected our offerings very carefully. If, however, there is something in a particular range you are looking for which you don’t see here, just ask, we may be able to get it for you.
We have several lines which are designed and made in Scotland, and most others are UK made, with a touch of tradition & nostalgia, and a lot of quality, taste & style! We also have a whole range of ‘Fair Trade’ gifts from Shared Earth and Earth Squared.
You can’t miss our chocolate cabinet packed with delicious hand made chocolates and truffles. We can wrap your selection in cellophane bags or beautiful boxes for you. On the sweetie front you can also find a delicious range of homemade fudge and bars of Scottish Tablet, macaroon and other traditional Scottish sweets.
We were also the first proud stockists in Aberdeenshire of the now famous Willie’s Cacao, 100% Venezuelan Black chocolate for cooking or eating, plus the recipe book to accompany it. (From the “Willie’s Chocolate Factory” TV programme on Channel 4).
We have lovely scented Scottish candles and luxurious toiletries, plus cards and prints from the local area. We also have exquisite examples of exclusive pottery from Highland Stoneware.
For children, we have the designer Kidorable range of wellies, raincoats and other accessories, plus fleeces, aprons and bags all to match. We also have the cutest teddies and other soft toys for all ages.
There are also some beautiful journals and diaries, including the ‘You to Me’ range, a brilliant idea to capture family and friendship history. We have lovely kitchen gifts, including cafetieres in various designs, novelty mugs, and other attractive kitchen items.
Coming Soon...
We are visiting the Jack Vettriano exhibition tomorrow and will be choosing which of Jack's prints and canvasses we will soon be hanging from the walls of Brown Sugar and offering for sale to our customers, along with a large range of his pictures as cards.
We are also expecting a new arrival, in the form of clothing from Little Green Radicals. Little Green Radicals are another great company offering organic, fair trade clothing for children which is funky, cool and very very funny! Watch this space!
Finally, we are again this year taking part in Book Crossing. Last week we released 8 books into the wild at Brown Sugar Cafe, an official 'book crossing zone'.
